H.R. Milner Sale Committee terminates sales process

 

The H.R. Milner Sale Committee agreed to terminate the sales process for the 144-megawatt coal-fired H.R. Milner Generating Station located 20 km north of Grande Cache, Alberta.

 

On behalf of consumers, the Balancing Pool assumed management of the Power Purchase Arrangement associated with the generating station in 2000. In May 2001, the Sale Committee, consisting of the operator ATCO Power Ltd., Alberta consumer representatives and the Balancing Pool, undertook a sale process offering the plant to the marketplace. Negotiations in respect of the H.R. Milner Generating Station were terminated recently when a satisfactory agreement was not reached.

 

ATCO Power will continue to operate the generating station for the benefit of consumers as outlined under the terms of the Operating Agreement. The Balancing Pool plans to reinitiate the sales process for HR Milner in early 2003.
